Introduction

To establish and maintain a high standard of professional competence of our members, the Institute, through the Board of Education, constantly scrutinize, validate and keep under review academic qualifications for admission to studentship of the Institute; develop, implement and control the qualifying mechanism to corporate membership of the Institute; organize and promote continuing professional development of member surveyors.

Assessment of Professional Competence (APC)

Candidates must have completed one of the courses recognized by the Institute before they are eligible to register for the APC and start recording their experience in the Diary & Log Book for a minimum of 24 or more depending on their Division. Student membership of the Institute is a pre-requisite, so candidates should enroll as student members when applying to enter the APC Scheme. Students of the Institute are required to pass the APC scheme before they are eligible for election to corporate membership of the Institute.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

There is always a need to learn more whether members are newly qualified or have many years' experience. CPD is both a personal and a business opportunity. CPD is "the systematic maintenance, improvement and broadening of knowledge and skill, and the development of personal qualities necessary for the execution of professional and technical duties throughout the practitioner's working life". All corporate members are required to complete a minimum of 60 hours CPD over a three year period.
