Nano and Advanced Materials Institute (NAMI) is a Research and Development Center for nanotechnology and advanced materials incorporated in 2006 as a subsidiary of the HKUST. As a Materials Expert, Nano and Advanced Materials Institute (NAMI) has a strong portfolio of innovative technologies to support and collaborate with the industry, offering frontier-applied research on advanced materials as well as technology transfer for commercialization success.

Throughout more than 15 years research, NAMI has developed various innovative construction materials like high strength lightweight concrete, which the weight is only 60% of normal concrete and provide excellent insulation performance. The high strength lightweight concrete is adopted in the composite Steel-Concrete Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) designed by NAMI and such In-principle Acceptance (IPA) from Buildings Department was already obtained for such MiC.

Apart from the high-strength lightweight concrete, NAMI would also share other innovative construction materials related to the building envelope.
